Welcome to Barnard’s 125th anniversary celebration.

Over the course of the next academic year, we will come together to reflect on the unique story of our founding, pay tribute to our place in higher education, and share in the colorful and wide-ranging memories of students, alumnae, faculty, and staff.

The College’s start, which you can learn more about by looking through the timeline, was not ordinary in any way, and the qualities that set the stage in 1889 still resonate on campus today and in our plans for the future. On a personal note, it’s humbling to think about the remarkable leaders who came before me. They ushered Barnard well into the 21st century, and we are eternally grateful for their pioneering spirit, audaciousness, and wisdom.

Throughout the 2014-2015 academic year, this website will evolve and grow, as we add events, stories (please share yours), and interactive elements. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the first of many highlights including Convocation on September 8, 2014 and Founder’s Day on October 26, 2014…and do check back often.

I invite you to join in the celebration.
